A picture post is making rounds on social media in which the quote attributed to former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni reads that “India will definitely win the world cup if Congress formes the government because in past India won both world cups under Congress rule.”

The text read: कांग्रेस की सरकार बानी तो इस बार इंडिया वर्ल्ड कप भी ज़रूर जीतेगी, क्योकि हर वर्ल्ड कप इंडिया ने कांग्रेस के राज में जीता है, कांग्रेस ख़ालिडियो को अच्छा सपोर्ट करती है

At the time of filing this report, the above post had got over 27,000 shares.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile came across the above post, we fact-checked it and found it to be FAKE.

First, we googled the text and found out that the former Indian skipper had made no such statement.

We further scanned through MS Dhoni’s social media profiles and found he hadn’t posted anything close to the viral statement attributed to him.

Hence, this proves that MS Dhoni did not say India will win the ICC World Cup 2019 if Congress comes in power.
