In what could be a good news for the fans of iPhone, Cupertino tech giant will start to assemble the new low-cost iPhone in February and unveil it in March.
Reports suggest that the assembly work will be split among Hon Hai Precision Industry, Pegatron and Wistron and the California based company is set to address the wider market before it’s 5G phone launch in the second half of the year.
This will be the first low-cost iPhone model since iPhone SE, and according to reports it will look similar to iPhone 8 from 2017 and will include a 4.7-inch screen, and the phone is estimated to be sold between the range of $399 (INR28,407) to $499 (INR 35,530).

The new iPhone is rumoured to have Touch ID built into the Home button using the previous apple technology rather than using an in-display fingerprint sensor like it’s android rivals.
It is expected to have the same Face ID biometric authentication but it will feature the iPhone 11’s processor and it is expected to have the latest iOS 13 and would start with 64GB internal storage.
A cheaper offering may help Apple to fight in this competitive market against its android rivals whose prices go as low as $200, and when the market is fast and ever-growing like India, a cheaper offering would help Apple compete in the competition. Apple has shown a will to carve out a niche for itself and is eyeing locations for Apple stores within its borders. Although a cheaper phone may boost sales for the company, as the price of iPhone 11 was $50 lower than it’s typical pricing, the demand for the phone sky-rocketed, reports suggest.
Apple is also planning to launch high-end iPhones later this year that are expected to include 5G connectivity, faster processors and new 3D cameras on the back.
The US tech giant is hoping the new handset’s sale will be a success and will grow this year, and has set a goal of shipping more than 200 million units in 2020, as the new iPhone is a successor to the iPhone SE and that would be playing a major role in this task.
