Today in Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to criticism a day after she said her family “has little to do with onions”. In Rajya Sabha, FM Sitharaman said she was called an “elitist” and criticised for her remark without taking into consideration the context.

Meanwhile, Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, who came out of Tihar jail after being granted bail in the INX Media money laundering case, reached Parliament today and said that the government cannot suppress his voice in the Parliament.

  • The Rajya Sabha approved the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019, replacing ordinance used to slash corporate tax rate.

  • Several Congress leaders protested in the Parliament over the rising onion prices.
