Zinedine Zidane set to return as Real Madrid manager

Date:

Zinedine Zidane is all set to become Real Madrid’s next manager, just nine months after having quit the club.

The former French midfield superstar left Real Madrid as the club’s manager just days after they won their third consecutive UEFA Champions League crown last season when they had beaten Liverpool in the final in Cardiff.

The club released a statement announcing Zidane as the new manager.

Spanish outlets like Marca, La Sexta, El Chiringuito and many others are now claiming that Zidane is set to replace Santiago Solari as the Los Blancos’ new manager today.

Real Madrid were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 by Ajax in midweek, after they took a 4-1 hammering at the hands of the Dutch club, despite having won the first leg 2-1.

Solari’s position as the club’s manager is under immediate threat since that defeat to the Dutch side and outlets are expecting a meeting involving the manager and Real’s Board of Directors later today.

This meeting will see Solari get sacked, after which Zidane will be announced as the club’s manager.

The Frenchman is expected to head the side’s training tomorrow and on Wednesday and he will be the club’s third new manager this season.
