Zidane, the manager of the Real Madrid team, announced his retirement just after he achieved his greatest accomplishment when Real Madrid won the European Cup title three times in a row. He resigned just after five days of his team’s victory. Here is the summary of the impression he made on the football world.

Zinedine Yazid Zidane, is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He is known for his elegance, vision, ball control and technique. He played as an attacking mid fielder for Cannes, Bordeaux, Juventus and Real Madrid.

Zidane’s earliest introduction to football was at the age of five in his home town Castellane. Zidane got his first Player’s licence at the age of ten when he joined the junior team of a local club, Castellane.

Clubs that he has been associated with –

CANNES: Zidane ended up playing at a professional level for 4 years for Club Cannes, when he had just gone there for a six week stay. His first coach at Cannes noticed that he was raw and sensitive and likely to attack the people who will insult his family and race. He was encouraged to channel his anger and play his own game. He scored his first goal on 10 February, 1991 for Cannes.

BORDEAUX: In 1992-93 season, Zidane was transferred to Girondins de Bordeaux. In four years, the club won the 1995 Intertoto Cup and was runners-up in 1995-96 UEFA Cup. According to football agent, Barry Silkman, towards the beginning of 1996 season Zidane was offered to Newcastle United for £1.2 million, but the club turned down the offer. In 1996, the award of League 1 player was awarded to Zidane.

JUVENTUS: Zidane had offers to join Europe’s top clubs in the spring of 1996. He, however, joined UEFA Champions League winners Juventus. After Zidane joined, the club won the 1996-97 series A title and the 1996 Intercontinental Cup.
Zidane scored seven goals in 32 matches in the league and Juventus won the 1997-98 series A and thus retain the Scudetto.

REAL MADRID: In 2001 Zidane joined Real Madrid for a world record fee of 150 billion Italian lire and signed a 4-year contract. They won the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final when Zidane scored a famous-match-winning goal.
Along with Zidane, real Madrid won 2001-03 La Liga. He was voted the best European footballer of the previous 50 years in UEFA’s fiftieth-anniversary Golden Jubilee Poll. In his final season he scored his first hat-trick against Sevilla. He ended the season as their highest goal scorer.

On may 7th 2006, Zidane announced his plan to retire after the World Cup.

• On January 4 2016, when the manager of Real Madrid announced his dismissal, on the same day Zidane was announced the new manager.
