New Delhi: Rising temperatures in the United States on Wednesday saw a six-foot-tall statue of former US President Abraham Lincoln’s statue to melt.
As the temperatures soared to 37 degrees Celsius, the former President’s statue was disfigured due to melting at the site of Camp Barker, a Civil War-era refugee camp that housed formerly enslaved and freed African Americans.
WE CAN NOT WITH THIS HEAT EITHER, LINCOLN
Our project, “40 ACRES: Camp Barker” by Sandy Williams IV has gone viral (for innocent reasons and some not so innocent ones). Read the articles for yourself: https://t.co/NfRc0CaLQI

As per reports, the statue’s head was the first to surrender to the scorching heat, followed by the leg. The authorities have already started the repair work on the statue.
The structure was made of candle and wax and beneath that was a plaque which read: “Please blow out your wick within 1-2 minutes.” The replica was commissioned by the non-profit organisation CulturalDC.
The organization commented on the incident and said, “Whether it’s the state of the union, the upcoming election, or this record-level heat, we are all over it!”. US-based artist Sandy Williams is the creator of the statue and created it as part of the Wax Monument Series.
