A video purportedly showing a cryptid, an eight-foot-long centipede-like creature slithering on a muddy road, is being circulated on social media, claiming that it is rare footage of this creature.
The Facebook post reads: “Arthropleura — A giant millipede-like arthropod that could grow up to 8 feet long.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the video, and found it to be AI-generated.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes, the NM team identified an X post by a user, named @IXITimmyIXI, featuring a higher-quality version of the video compared to the viral one.
In the comments section of this post, Timmy confirms that the video is AI-generated. He explains that it has been created using Runway’s Gen-3 Alpha tool. Timmy’s bio also indicates that he is a community manager at Runway.
Videos created with this tool display a watermark in the bottom-right corner, which is visible in Timmy’s video (here and here) as well as in other videos generated by various users (here).
So, we can conclusively say that the viral video purportedly showing a rare centipede-like creature is actually AI-generated.
