India defeated New Zealand by 35 runs in the fifth and the final ODI at the Wellington Regional Stadium to seal five-match series 4-1 on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, the Men in Blue were collapsed for 18/4. However, Ambati Rayudu (90) and Vijay Shankar (45) stitched a crucial 98-run stand before Hardik Pandya scored 45 runs off 22 balls to help the visitors post 252 runs.

For New Zealand, Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers for his four wickets while Trent Boult and Jimmy Neesham also bagged three and a wicket, respectively.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was back in the team in place of Dinesh Karthik while Mohammad Shami and Shankar replaced Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav.
Rayudu named man-of-the-match: “I wanted to take the game to the 30th over without losing another wicket, we knew that we were up against a quality bowling attack. The aim was to play full quota of 50 overs. People batting at four, five, six get chances only in tough situations but we might face similar challenge in the future. It was a great effort by our bowlers,”
