Satyajit Ray’s ‘Pathar Panchali’ To Open G20 Film Festival; Here’s All You Need To Know

New Delhi: India’s legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s ‘Pather Panchali’ will open the G20 Film Festival on Wednesday.

A 1955 classic, the movie is all about a family’s quest to improve their life. It beautifully captured the struggles of a family that earns less and are fighting for their survival.

The G20 Film Festival is being organised by India International Centre Film Club (IIC) in collaboration with the G20 Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs and G20 Member countries. The film festival will be held at CD Deshmukh Auditorium at IIC, in the national capital from Wednesday 6 pm to September 3.

The festival will be inaugurated by veteran actor Victor Banerjee and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant.

The aim behind the film festival is to present award-winning feature films, that have conveyed the issues and concerns of each country while navigating questions of one’s identity and social polity.

With ‘Pather Panchali’ opening the festival, sixteen other international award-winning feature films will be screened throughout the festival. The list includes screening of Australia’s ‘We Are Still Here’ and ‘Hearts And Bones’, and Brazil’s ‘ANA. Untitled, China’s ‘The Empty Nest’, Poland’s ‘Thou Shalt Not Hate’, Germany’s ‘Ivie Wie Ivie’, Japan’s ‘Aristocrats’, Mexico’s ‘Mezquite’s Heart’, Spanish movie ‘Robe Of Gems’, France’s ‘My Night’, Turkey’s ‘Noah Land’, South Korea’s ‘Decision To Leave’, Italy’s ‘Happy As Lazzaro’, USA’s ‘The Cathedral’, and UK’s ‘Footprints On Water’.
