Good Friday is the Friday before Easter and the day on which Christians annually observe the commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The day is generally observed as a day of penance, sorrow, people fast on this day generally.

It is merely called ‘Good’ Friday but it actually means a day of mourning. This was the day when Jesus Christ was crucified and one should be careful of how they send wishes on the day. Perhaps it was called ‘Good Friday’ because of the belief that the Messiah sacrificed himself for humans and hence was resurrected. Many also believe that ‘Good’ has another meaning which is ‘Holy’ and it could also mean Holy Friday.

No Meat on Good Friday

Good Friday of the Lenten season is followed by Lenten fasting rules. Meat consumption is prohibited on this day and people generally have one big meal and two smaller ones.
