Fact Check: Comedy Short Film Video Fictitiously Shared As a Real-life Incident

Date:

A viral video allegedly shows a mother-in-law settling in, while the daughter-in-law assumes driving duties when the driver is absent. The daughter-in-law apparently gets into an argument with the driver when he asks her to leave the seat. She refuses to vacate the driver’s seat.

The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “A lady and her bahu get into a crowded bus somewhere in Rajasthan. The MIL got a seat. The bahu, too, searched for one, saw the driver’s seat vacant and occupied it. When the driver came and asked her to vacate his seat, she told him to sit somewhere else. When he tried saying that he needed to drive the bus, she asks him to drive from any other seat. Her MIL, too, supports her!”

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.

Performing a Reverse Image Search, we identified a YouTube channel carrying the longer version of the viral video with a caption: “Rolov in the city of village Lugai Machayo!! Hema Prajapat || Marwadi Comedy.”

Taking a cue from this, we found that Hema Prajapat has appeared in a number of other short films with mother-in-law and daughter-in-law roles, some of which also include the other actress (Kamla Solanki) from the viral video. Check other videos here, here and here

Thus, it is evident from the above information that scenes from a comedy short film are shared as real-life incidents.
