Fact Check: This Video Certainly Does Not Show the State of Wild Animals in Ukraine

Date:

Against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukraine conflict, a video of an elephant and a giraffe entangled into each other has surfaced on Internet, and it is being claimed to be from Ukraine.

The caption reads: “Wild animals in Ukraine”

The above post can be seen here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, and found it to be misleading.

Putting the keyframes of the video through a Reverse Image Search, we spotted a longer version of the original video on YouTube uploaded on August 15, 2019. The caption reads: “Elephant vs Giraffe Water Fight”, suggesting that the video was to spread awareness to safe water.

On closely observing the video, we noticed that the original video was an animated creation and found similarities with the video in question.

To our surprise, a new background has been superimposed and the subject (elephant and giraffe) flipped, using the video-editing software, to create clip in question.

So, it can be concluded that the video in question has been shared with a false claim.
