Culprits Should Be Punished Severely: Arvind Kejriwal On Delhi Woman’s Death

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday condemned the incident in which a 20-year-old woman was killed after her scooty was hit by a car and her body was dragged for four kilometres from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala.

Delhi Police said the body was found almost an hour later. The victim was an event organiser and was returning from work at the time. There were five men in the car, who have been arrested.

Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal said the incident was “shameful” and the culprits should be “punished severely”.

Earlier, Delhi L-G V K Saxena took to Twitter and wrote, “My head hangs in shame over the inhuman crime in Kanjhawala-Sultanpuri today morning and I am shocked by the monstrous insensitivity of the perpetrators.”

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued a notice to the city police in connection with the incident.

Police said the victim’s body was sent to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital at Mangolpuri for post-mortem. They said the victim’s leg got entangled in one of the wheels of the car and she was dragged for around several kilometres.
