J&K: Four Killed, Six Injured Rescued After Landslide Hit Power Project Site

Kishtwar: Four people including a police officer and an engineer succumbed to their injuries while six people were rescued by the officials from the landslide at a mega power project site in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

Devansh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir confirmed that “The rescue operation has been completed. A total of four bodies and six injured were rescued.”

Earlier, Union Minister Jitendra Singh took to Twitter and said that “Just now spoke to DC Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav on receiving the report of a fatal landslide at the site of the under construction Ratle Power Project. The JCB driver, unfortunately, died on the spot. The rescue team of about 6 persons, deputed to the site after the incident.”

He further added that “All efforts being made to retrieve and save the trapped persons. Further assistance, as required, being provided. I am in constant touch with the District administration.”

Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, took to Twitter and said “Deeply anguished by mishap at Drabshalla- Ratle hydroelectric project. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. Prayers for early recovery of injured. Army,SDRF & police are carrying out rescue operations. Dist Admin directed to provide all necessary assistance.”
