Arunachal Chopper Crash: Probe Focus On ‘May Day’ Call While Search Concludes

Guwahati: The Defence authorities on Saturday claimed that the probe is focusing on the ‘May Day’ call received by the Air Traffic Control (ATC) suggesting a technical or mechanical failure on the chopper with five personnel onboard.

Earlier on Friday, an Advanced Light Helicopter (Weapon System Integrated) crashed in general area of Migging (South of Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh) at 10:43 am.

Defence PRO, Tezpur in a statement said that the search and rescue operation has finally concluded with the recovery of the fifth body on Saturday.

The statement added, “Prior to the crash, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) had received a MAYDAY call suggesting a technical or mechanical failure,”.

The statement further added, “This will form the focus of the Court of Inquiry, which has been immediately constituted to investigate the causes of the accident,”.

The PRO in a statement said that the pilots had more than 600 combined flying hours on the Advanced Light Helicopter (Weapon Systems Integrated) and over 1800 service flying hours between them.
