DGCA Orders SpiceJet To Send Oil Samples To Pratt And Whitney Every 15 Days

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Monday ordered SpiceJet to send oil samples to Pratt and Whitney every 15 days after an incident of smoke in the cabin from oil leakage.

DGCA in a statement added that “SpiceJet aircraft VT-SQB was involved in an incident of ‘smoke in cabin’ during descent necessitating an emergency landing at Hyderabad. The passengers were safely evacuated with the assistance of cabin crew and airport staff.”

The statement added, “Engine Oil samples to be taken and sent to Pratt and Whitney Canada for PW150A OIL Analysis Technology to ascertain the presence of metal and carbon seal particles.”

The statement further assured that DGCA is keeping a close watch on the situation and will take all appropriate action to avert any untoward incident.
