Umesh, Shahbaz, Shreyas Back In T20 Squad Against South Africa, Hooda Ruled Out

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday announced the final squad for the upcoming T20I games against South Africa.

BCCI in a statement confirmed that Indian batsman Deepak Hooda has been ruled out of the upcoming series due to injury. He is further sent for recovery at the National Cricket Academy. Shreyas Iyer has been added to the squad as a replacement for Hooda.

The statement further added that “Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have also reported to the NCA for conditioning-related work while Arshdeep Singh has linked up with the squad in Thiruvananthapuram.”

Mohd. Shami is yet to recover completely from COVID. Umesh Yadav has been added to the squad as a replacement for Shami. Shahbaz Ahmed has also been added to the T20I squad.

India Squad for SA T20Is: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shahbaz Ahmed.
