Patna: Amid the major political shift in Bihar over the past few days, the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan government will go for a floor test on August 24 to prove its majority in the state assembly.
Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the record 8th time on Wednesday. RJD chief Tejaswi Yadav took oath as Deputy Chief Minister.
According to newswire agency ANI, the expansion of the cabinet is likely to take place on August 16 with RJD having more ministers than the Janata Dal-United.
Currently, Mahagathbandhan has the support of 164 members in the assembly. After breaking off the alliance with BJP for the second time in eight years, BJP accused Nitish Kumar of ‘disrespecting’ the mandate given by the people of Bihar.
