Havoc In Mumbai Due To Heavy Rainfall And Waterlogging

Mumbai: As the rains continue to pour in the last few days, the city continues to reel under severe instances of waterlogging in different parts.

According to the predictions of the Regional Meteorological Centre of Mumbai, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the city and suburbs for the next 24 hours. The report further added a possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places with gusty winds reaching upto 45-55 kmph in the next few hours.

The experts predicted heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours in the area. The Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued an orange alert in Mumbai keeping in mind the instances of heavy rainfall.

With the incessant rainfall over the past few days, several parts of the city remain submerged due to waterlogging. The city is experiencing traffic and snarls due to instances of waterlogging.

 

The administration has urged commuters to plan their travels accordingly as the traffic jam from Milan Subway and Andheri has been diverted to S.V.Road and D.N.Nagar Chowki after waterlogging upto 2 feet was reported.

According to the Maharashtra SDMD report, a total of 76 people have died (till July 10) and as many as 838 houses were damaged due to rainfall.

The report further added that more than 4,916 people have been shifted to safer locations by the disaster management teams.
