New Delhi: With the growing stress and competition in our daily lives, maintaining a healthy and sustainable lifestyle is what many of us seek. Boiling down to a simple method is quite tough as an ocean of options and experts flood the Internet with their Mantras to a fulfilling lifestyle.

Many people nowadays have started practicing what experts term as a “barefoot lifestyle”. The process is simple. Just giveaway your shoes, slippers, and sandals, and let your feet authentically interact with mother nature.

Ritesh Shaiwal, director at Easy Human India and a movement specialist, is one of the beneficiaries of adopting this lifestyle for quite some time now. He is an adventurous individual who likes to explore possibilities in his life.

Ritesh started to integrate barefoot running on grass for a few sessions every week and moved ahead slowly and gradually. One of the fundamental steps to begin the process is being barefoot in your house. He said, “I realized that when I integrate barefoot in my training regime as well, my arch of the feet started becoming better.” It made him feel a lot more stable and increased the responsiveness of his knees.

He claims that the amount of body and mental awareness that increases with being barefoot is unparalleled to any pair of footwear around the world.

Ritesh said a common myth about going barefoot is people say that flat-footed individuals should avoid being barefoot. He further adds that it is the other way around and It helps in enhancing the structure of your body to provide more stability.

Human civilization has remained barefoot for millions of years. Sudden inflow of footwear has taken away the authentic touch of feet from the earth. People around the world have started to give away footwear, most of them occasionally to bring back and connect to nature in a personal manner.

Bollywood Actor Milind Soman completed a 400-km run from Mumbai to the Statue of Unity barefoot. After completing the run, he shared his views on going barefoot and said “it gets stronger, more capable of supporting me, making my posture better, better balance and improving my recovery.

Ritesh gave a simple method to slowly integrate this into your day-today-lifestyle. He suggested people start by walking barefoot in their own homes. Slowly and gradually move to grass which can include walking and running as well. And in the final phase, one can move from grass to turf and roads ultimately.
