New Delhi: Former Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, passed away at the age of 67 after he was shot on Friday in the city of Nara.

- Police arrested 41-year-old Yamagami Tetsuya in Nara City for allegedly attempting murder.
- An NHK reporter on-site heard something that sounded like a gunshot and saw Abe bleeding.
- Reportedly, Abe was attacked by a man from behind while he was making a stump speech on a street in Nara on Friday.

- Abe, 67, Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, held office in 2006 for one year and again from 2012 to 2020 when he was forced to step down due to the debilitating bowel condition ulcerative colitis.
