England’s World Cup Winning Captain Eoin Morgan Retires From International Cricket

Date:

London: Former England’s white-ball captain Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday.

One of the instrumental players in the history of England’s cricket, Morgan led the ODI side for more than seven years and took the team to new heights in his leadership. Morgan over an illustrious international career has 6957 runs in ODI cricket.

Eoin Morgan led the side to the 2019 World Cup and secured the first title for the country, finishing at the top of the table in terms of ranking across ODI (international) and T20 formats.

In a statement, he said that “ I’m hugely proud of what I have achieved, but what I will cherish and remember most are the memories I made with some of the greatest people I know.”

Morgan is the all-time leading run-scorer and most-capped player for England Men in both ODI and T20I matches. Morgan equaled Indian captain, MS Dhoni, by captaining the England T20 side in 72 matches.

He further added that “I must also thank my teammates, coaches, supporters, and those behind the scenes who have made my career and any successes possible.”
