Taliban Stops Issuing Driving License To Afghan Women: Reports

Date:

Kabul: Amid the tensions and sanctions imposed by the Taliban in Afghanistan, the regime has stopped issuing driving licenses to women in Kabul and other provinces.

The ban has been imposed at a time when the country is battling through a devastating humanitarian crisis, with an acute shortage of food and other essential supplies.

Earlier, women in Afghanistan were seen driving in some of the major cities before the Taliban took over.

Since the collapse of the Afghan government, the situation on the ground has worsened in terms of human rights. Although the fighting in the country has ended, serious human rights violations continue unabated, especially against women.

According to media reports, the Taliban regime has banned girls from attending schools above the grade of sixth which is attracting worldwide condemnation.

The leader of the regime said that the move was taken due to the ‘shortage of teachers’ and that the right of girls to study beyond sixth grade will be restored shortly.
