New Delhi: Days after communal violence in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Hanuman Jayanti on Saturday, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi initiated an anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday in the violence-hit area, however, the Supreme Court ordered status quo.
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has scheduled the two-day anti-encroachment drive starting and has asked the Delhi Police for at least 400 personnel to maintain law and order.
As many as 20 bulldozers have been used to demolish illegal encroachment in the area.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ordered status-quo on demolition drive conducted by North Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Bulldozers arrived at the area after Special Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathak and other senior officers of Delhi Police took stock of the area on Wednesday morning ahead of the eviction drive.
Reportedly, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta has also written to the mayor of the North Corporation to identify illegal constructions of “rioters” in Jahangirpuri and demolish them. A copy of the letter was sent to the commissioner of the municipal body.
