Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Appealed to US Companies To Contribute In Co-Development Efforts

Washington: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that he has appealed to the US companies and equipment manufacturers for co-development and co-production in India. 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar are on a visit to the United States of America for a 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue between India and the USA. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin attended the meeting held on Monday. 

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in an interview with the ANI said that during the US-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, the US responded positively to India’s policy of ‘Atmanirbharta’ (self-reliance).

He further added that “I have appealed to the American people, their companies, equipment manufacturers that they are welcome in India while calling upon them for co-development and co-production in India.”

Reacting to the talks about providing affordable defense systems, he added, “Price affordability will benefit only when we require, or can’t produce. We will buy it from outside when it’s required.” 

Pentagon in a statement said that the defence and foreign ministers of both the countries forged new and deeper cooperation across the breadth of the US-India partnership, including defence, science and technology, trade, climate, health, and people-to-people ties.
