FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be Misleading.

On closely observing the video, we found that the video had the logo of ANN News. We checked for ANN News and found that it is an Indian News channel. In the About US section of the news website it mentioned, “ANN, is a commercial television news network in INDIA run by ‘Aalimi News Network’ Pvt. Ltd. Corporation. ANN is the broadcast supplier of news programmes to all ANN-affiliated stations. It also operates the 24-hour cable Tv news channel.”

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search we found that the same video was tweeted by a TV journalist with a caption that read, “Kashmiri Muslim activist @Javedbeigh says Kashmiri Muslims should confess to their crime of genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and publicly apologise. Javed is witness to 1997 massacre of Kashmiri Hindus. Collective apology for crimes against humanity need of the hour. #TheKashmirFiles.”

We found that Javed Beigh had also quote tweeted the video with a caption that read, “Truth remains truth even if nobody speaking it . A lie is always a lie even if everybody speaking it. I am witness to Kashmiri’s first Massacre of KP’s which was unfortunately carried out at Sangrampora Beerwah, my Hometown in 21st March,1997 (Nourooz Day) I feel sad n sorry.”

India Today also reported about the video with a title that read, “Kashmiri Muslim apologises for genocide on TV, Vivek Agnihotri thanks him.”

Thus, a video broadcast on an Indian news channel is widely being shared that a man apologised for the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits on a Pakistani news channel.
