No Respite From Scorching Heat; Mercury Rises To 40 Degree In Delhi

New Delhi: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday warned against the rise in mercury in the national capital. The weather department added that the heatwave is likely hit Delhi from April 3 to April 5.

The weather department predicted that the temperature in Delhi is likely to hit 40 degrees Celcius on Wednesday and said warned of severe heatwave conditions likely to persist on Thursday as well.

IMD also warned that the heatwave is likely to continue in Central and Western India during the next four to five days. However, heavy rainfall is expected to occur in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam and Meghalaya on March 31, April 2 and April 3.

“Heat Wave Spell likely to continue over Central & West India during next 4-5 days and Reduction in intensity of Heat Wave Spell over Northwest India during 01st-03rd April 2022,” tweeted IMD.

According to IMD, a “severe” heatwave is declared if the departure from normal temperature is more than 6.4 degrees.
