Here’s the link to the post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the post to be misleading.

When we extracted keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search, we found that the same video was shared by the verified Twitter handle of KHOU 11 News Houston on August 5, 2020.

The video was shared with the caption, “Here’s the aftermath in Beirut after the deadly explosion in the Lebanon capital. Dozens were killed and thousands were injured. A large part of the city looks like it’s completely destroyed. Video credit: Rashad Achkar”

The same video was also shared by Journalist Jenan Moussa on August 5, 2020, with the text, “My city Beirut after the explosion. What a tragedy. It’s too much to bear.”

On 4 August 2020, tons of ammonium nitrate exploded in Beirut’s port resulting in the death of more than 217 people and leaving 7,000 injured. According to Amnesty International, ‘The blast displaced 300,000 people and caused widespread destruction and devastation, damaging buildings up to 20km away,’

With regards to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which began on February 24, 2022, pictures and videos of heavy destruction have been emerging every day. Related reports can be seen here and here.

Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the viral video is old and shows the aftermath of the explosion in Lebanon.
