Amid the ongoing crisis in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion, an image has gone viral on social media in which people can be seen serving food to people.
The image is being shared with a claim that it shows ISKCON devotees serving food to stranded people in Ukraine. The image has text embedded on it that reads, “ISKCON temples open doors for stranded people in Ukraine! Ukraine’s 54 ISKCON temples are open to serve people, ISKCON announced. This is the beauty of Hindu culture.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search we found that the viral image was published by Patrika on August 22, 2019. The caption associated with the image read, “शाकाहारी हैं, विश्व भ्रमण में जाना है, तो मदद करेगी इस्कॉन की गोविंदा रसोई” (English translation, “Are you a vegetarian? want to go on a world tour, then ISKCON’s Govinda Rasoi will help.”)
The same image was also published on the Alachua Hare Krishna Temple website. Alachua Hare Krishna Temple has been distributing sanctified food to the public for 37 years. Our modern commercial kitchen feeds thousands of people on festival days. Each month we feed 2500 people at weekly Sunday open house programs where visitors, devotees and the general public eat prasad with us.
According to ANI, ISKCON temple in Kyiv has opened its doors for stranded people.
Though ISKCON has opened temple doors for stranded people, however, the viral image is old.
