A huge relief for parents and students across Haryana for the time being at least.
There will be no Board exams for Class 8 and Class 5 students across the state. The govt has said it will go ahead with the new exam model from the next session.
The decision was announced by Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar today.

Parents and students had taken out a protest in Gurgaon on Sunday demanding cancellation of the proposed board exam.
The protest was also backed by parents of students from Class 4 to Class 7, as well as CBSE and CISCE.

Haryana’s State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), had announced that all students studying in government and recognized private schools situated in Haryana needed to pass the Class 8 annual examination of the Haryana Board for admission in Class 9.
The concerned parents had pointed out that:
– After 650 days of school closures, children are already struggling to overcome learning gaps. A new Board exam will create additional pressure on them.
– Children are already preparing for their Term 2 final exams, while dealing with Covid restrictions. Many have not had digital access to classrooms, and have been struggling with hybrid teaching. Trying to prepare for a new Board exam will be impossible for them.
– The proposed BSEH (Board of Secondary Education, Haryana) syllabus differs from syllabi being taught in many schools. Students from a large number of schools are not familiar with this syllabus, and it is unfair to expect them to study it in a little over a month.
– Having experienced tremendous uncertainty, loss, isolation and fear in the last two years, students are not equipped to handle the pressure of an unexpected and unplanned Board examination.
The CBSE and CISCE Boards had also expressed their opposition to the Haryana Government’s move.
