In the video Jayant Chaudhary can be heard saying, “What will a Jat voter do? What is the mind of a Jat voter? Sorry, I have not taken responsibility for this.”
The video is being shared on Facebook with a caption in Hindi that can be roughly translated in English to, “Shameful statement of Jayant Chaudhary towards Jats. The meaning of his statement is that he has taken contract of maulanas.”

Starting with our investigation, we performed a keyword search that directed us to a news report by India TV published on March 31, 2019. The viral news bulletin can be seen at the 24-second-mark. According to the video, Jayant Chaudhary said that I talk about farmers, I talk about small sections. I have not taken the contract of Jats.
Taking a cue from this, we did a keyword search and found a news article published by News 18 which reported the same incident in March 2019. According to information in the report, while addressing a public meeting during 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Jayant Chaudhary had said that “I talk about farmers, I talk about small sections. I do not work only for Jats.”
A similar news bulletin was carried by UP Tak on March 31, 2019.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that a three-year-old video of RLD President Jayant Chaudhary is being shared as recent with misleading claims.
