Tennis star Novak Djokovic has been detained in Australia after authorities cancelled his visa for a second time and declared the unvaccinated tennis star a threat to the public.
The Australian Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services, and Multicultural Affairs, Alex Hawke, again cancelled Novak Djokovic’s visa on Friday. Hawke claimed that Djokovic’s continued presence on Australian soil could ‘foster anti-vaccination sentiment’ and even spark an ‘increase in civil unrest’.
World’s number Tennis player Rafael Nadal also said to reporters that no person is more important than the tournament. He said, “I tell you one thing, it’s very clear that Novak Djokovic is one of the best players of history, without a doubt. But there is no one player in history that’s more important than an event, no? The players stays and then goes, and other players are coming. No one, even Roger, Novak, myself, Bjorn Borg who was amazing at his times, tennis keep going.”
Notably, world number one men’s singles tennis player Djokovic on Wednesday admitted that he conducted an in-person media interview and photoshoot in December despite knowing the fact that he was COVID-19 positive.
