For many moviegoers, the year 2021 proved to be a disappointment as halls were closed for a long duration amid the scares of COVID-19. Most movies were released on OTTs but still the tantalizing aroma of popcorn with the fizz of cold drink was a major missing.
While we are bidding farewell to the year 2021, we also expect that the new year will bring new hope for cinema lovers and they will be able to watch their favourite movies in theatres.
Here is a list of some major releases that people can look forward to in the year 2022:
RRR: One of the major releases of 2021 is SS Rajmouli’s directed, period action drama film, RRR. The movie has an amalgamation of both Tollywood and Bollywood superstars, Jr NTR, Ajay Devgan, Alia Bhatt and Ram Charan.
Radhe Shyam: Bahubali fame, actor Prabhas is going to star in another movie which will be released in both Hindi and English, Radhe Shyaam. Tollywood actress Pooja Hegde will be playing the love interest of Prabhas and is directed by Radha Krishna Kumar.
Prithviraj: Miss World 2017, Manushi Chillar is going to debut in a historical epic action drama film produced under the banner of YRF Films. The movie is based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, being played by Akshay Kumar. Other important cast includes Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood.
Gangubai Kathiawadi: A biographical crime drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Alia Bhatt is also one of the most anticipated movies of 2022. The movie’s trailer was out in 2021 but it git delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie is based on Gangubai, one of the most powerful and respectful sex workers of Kamathipura during the 1960s.
Adiprush: It is a movie based on Ramayana stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh and Kriti Sanon and is shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. The film is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles.
Dhaakad: It is a thriller film based on the subject of child trafficking and the exploitation of women. It stars Kangana Ranaut, Divya Dutta and Arjun Rampal and is expected to release on April 8, 2022. The movie is directed by Razneesh Razy Ghai.
Heropanti 2: The sequel of Tigor Shroff’s debut film, Heropanti is also set to release in 2022. Apart from Tiger, other casts of the movie include Tara Sutaria, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Mark Rhino Smith.
Laal Singh Chaddha: This is an Amir Khan starer Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump. Other important casts of the movie involve Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya. The movie had to go on the floor in 2020 but was halted amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bhool Bhulaiya 2: Kartik Aryan’s starer, a comedy horror film will release in 2022. The movie is a sequel of Akshay Kumar’s popular psychological horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiya. The film is directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Bhushan Kumar. Other important caste involves Kiara Advani, Tabu, Paresh Rawal and Anil Kapoor.
