Date:

Between thousands of letters that are sent to the Chief Justice of India, a letter from a 10-year-old from Kerala made headlines and touched the Chief Justice’s heart.

Lidwina Joseph, a 5th grader from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kerala wrote a letter to the CJI in which she showed concerns about the growing coronavirus pandemic and how “proud and happy” she was about the recent measures which were taken by the Supreme Court regarding the supply of oxygen.

To which the CJI replied by saying “I have received your beautiful letter along with a heartwarming illustration of the judge at work”

The girl’s letter said “I am happy and feel proud about your honourable court has moved orders for supply of oxygen and saved many lives. I understand your honourable court has initiated effective steps in bringing down COVID-19 and the death rate in our country, especially in Delhi. I thank Your Honour for this. Now I feel very proud and happy”

The letter was in a form of a colourful scroll and also consisted of an illustration in which a judge wearing glasses is using his gavel to destroy coronavirus. Behind the judge, there is a portrait of Mahatma hanging on the wall.

Recently a letter from a 12th class student, Potluri Darshet also caught the CJI’s eyes. The CJI appreciated the flawless letter which was written in Telugu by saying that it is not common these days to come across letters written by youngsters in their mother tongue.
