FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked this post and found that the video in circulation is old and misleading.

When we extracted keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search, we found that the longer version of the video was posted on Facebook on April 11, 2020. The caption of the video mentioned that the picture is from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.

With that information, we tried to locate the exact location on Google Maps and found that the location in the video matches with Sirmour Chowk in Rewa.

We also found a video published by Zee News that stated that the video is from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.

As per the report, the police first garlanded the people, then offered tilak and performed aarti. Police said that this way the people will feel embarrassed and will stay at home.

The above information proves that the video is old and is from Madhya Pradesh, not Karnataka. Hence, the claim is misleading.
