FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be fake.

Starting with our investigation, we searched the web for any such official notification or media report corroborating the viral claim. But we could not trace any.

Although, we could find many news articles stating the Delhi Police has clarified that “motivated elements tried to defame the force by spreading misinformation on social media on the COVID-19 crisis.”

Taking a cue from this, we also found a tweet by Delhi Police in which they stated that it takes strong objection to such motivated, unverified and unsubstantiated allegations that Delhi Police has asked volunteers to stop amplifying resource information.

Taking strong exception to the “unverified and unsubstantiated” allegation, Delhi Police urged people and the media not to amplify such misinformation.

Thus, from the above information, it is evident that posts claiming that Delhi Police is clamping down volunteers who are amplifying resources to fight COVID-19 are Fake.
