We put the image through reverse Image search. The search led us to the website of Bas Uterwijk Photography.
After going through the website, we found the same picture under the category called ‘A.I. generated portraits‘.
He also uploaded the same portrait on Twitter on November 6, 2020, with the caption, “I made a lady Liberty a while ago. This is my latest version: #artbreeder #StyleGAN2 #DeepLearning #AI #NeuralNetworks #ladyliberty #statueofliberty.”
According to an article by The New York Post, Bas Uterwijk is an Amsterdam-based artist who creates lifelike photographs of historical figures and monuments such as the Statue of Liberty, artist Vincent van Gogh, George Washington and Queen Elizabeth I, using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In another video interview, Bas said that he crates historical faces of people who lived before the invention of photography. He also mentioned that he used Artificial Intelligence as a close-to-reality version of the historical figures.
Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the post in question is misleading that the photograph is not an actual picture but a portrait created with the help of AI.
