A picture of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa sitting with a woman is being shared on social media with the claim that the woman in the picture is India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
“A rare photo of Jayalalita and our present Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman,” the Facebook caption read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
We put the picture through Reverse Image Search and found that the same post was shared by multiple users in 2020.
While looking for similar posts, we found that the same pictures were shared by a photographer Ravi Verma V.
In a post shared by him on May 30, 2020, he clarified that the picture was clicked by him and the woman in the picture, alongside Jayalalithaa, is Tamil writer Sivasankari.
Based on this, we ran another search and found a different picture of Jayalalithaa and Sivasankari in an article from 2018.
We also found a picture of Nirmala Sitharaman from her youth and compared it to the viral picture. The comparison showed us that the two are not identical.
Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the above viral post is false.
