Mamata Refers To Party Exodus As Greedy And Seeking Refuge In BJP

Date:

Even as several Trinamool Congress(TMC) leaders have switched from the BJP in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not buckling under pressure. Mamata on Wednesday referred to those who have switched camp as greedy and that it would make no difference in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

“None of our party’s grassroots workers are greedy. Those who are greedy and now scared of their previous acts are now going to the BJP to take refuge. Before we could drive them out, they left.” Said Mamata Banerjee.

Referring to the saffron party Mamata added, “They flee away after elections. They promised to turn north Bengal into Sonar Bangla. What did they do? We don’t’ want Sonar Bangla. We want basic needs of life food like food and roof over our head.”

“Our party doesn’t issue tickets in exchange for money.” Added Mamata.

The BJP has opened doors to several TMC leaders including former cabinet minister Suvendu Adhikari, following which there have been more deflecting from the TMC camp. While this would mean that TMC will lose out on it’s voters, the TMC supremo is putting up a strong fight as she disassociates herself from the leaders who were once close aids of her.

The matter of the fact is that TMC will have to come up with a strong reason to keep voters confidence intact and prove that the ruling party is the best choice to hold onto the reins of the state, amidst the insider outsider debate. Will Bengal accept the so called outsiders?
