The unprecedented violence on Republic Day took an ugly turn after one of the demonstrators, Navreet Singh Hundal, died during the farmer’s tractor rally.
Protesting farmers had kept the body wrapped in a national flag at the ITO intersection and they claimed that the tractor had overturned after police fired at it.
Ending all the speculations, the Uttar Pradesh police released the post-mortem report of the deceased farmer. It shows that the farmer died of injuries sustained when his vehicle overturned and not because of gunshots.
UP police informed the media that the farmer succumbed to injuries which he received after his tractor turned turtle as seen in the viral video. “Yesterday night, three senior doctors conducted the postmortem and it did not show bullet injury. He succumbed to the ante-mortem injuries which he received after his tractor turned turtle as seen in the viral video. The last rights of the deceased were conducted in a peaceful way at his village.” Said Avinash Chandra ADG of Bareilly zone.

Chandra added that baseless allegations had been made that the protester died due to a bullet injury. Delhi witnessed violence during the tractor march by farmers on Republic Day to protest against three farm laws.
Protestors violated the permission granted by Delhi Police for the route to hold the tractor march and entered central Delhi after forcibly removing barricades. Several policemen were injured in the violence and vehicles damaged.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Chinmoy Biswal wrote to the organizer of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, Darshan Pal, urging him to answer why action should not be taken against him and his allies for breaking an agreement regarding the protest routes on Republic Day.
