COVID-19 | Delhi’s borders with UP, Haryana to be opened from Monday; special ‘corona fee’ on liquor lifted

Delhi Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced that the borders of the national capital with UP and Haryana will be opened from Monday.

The Delhi Government also withdrew 70% ‘Special Corona Fee’ on liquor with effect from Jun 10, but raised VAT from 20% to 25%.

Addressing the media further on measures for Unlock 1.0, Kejriwal announced that all restaurants, malls and places of worship to open in the national capital from Monday, in accordance with the Centre’s guidelines.

However, hotels, banquets will remain closed as they might be needed to be converted into hospitals in coming time.

Kejriwal added that by the end of the month of June, Delhi would need 15,000 beds

Speaking on the availability of hospitals, Kejriwal said that Government, private hospitals in Delhi will only treat patients from Delhi, while Central hospitals will remain open for all.

“If people from other cities come to Delhi for specific surgeries, they will be treated at private hospitals”, he added.

Meanwhile, a senior official of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday.

Delhi, as per the latest figure from the Health Ministry, reports a total of 27,654 cases- the third highest in the country- while the death toll in the national capital stands at 761.
