Karnataka government’s Department of Health and Family Welfare has stopped giving out details related to COVID-19 from Wednesday.

This has prompted many residents to criticize the government and question their intentions. In the past few days, the state witnessed an increase in the number of cases daily.

Mysuru district in the state has zero cases presently. It is soon expected to get out of the Red Zone.

2. Visakhapatnam on high alert following Super Cyclone Amphan

Visakhapatnam has been placed on high alert following the landfall made by Super Cyclone Amphan in West Bengal and parts of Odisha.

The city witnessed higher sea levels and strong winds blowing across the coastal city. Fishermen have been asked not to venture out into the seas. Authorities have also asked the residents to stay indoors and protect themselves.

3. Massive confusion over the odd-even scheme in Hyderabad

Hyderabad residents were in for massive confusion on Wednesday as the city returned to normalcy. The state government had introduced the system of odd-even for the city markets to follow and had classified markets which would then be permitted to stay open only during these times.

Due to lack of communication, the city witnessed massive confusion and many shopkeepers were seen arguing with the municipal and police authorities over the rules.

4. Tech companies seek rent waiver from TN Govt

Due to the lockdown that has been imposed by the government and general economic recession, many tech companies have reported lesser earnings during this period.

This has prompted many IT companies in the state to seek a rent waiver from the Tamil Nadu government. These companies have sought waiver of rents in government-owned IT parks.

Kerala had earlier granted this relief.

5. Kerala looks to private weather forecasting agencies

Following extreme weather events in the state, the Kerala government has turned its attention towards private weather forecasting agencies for a better management.

The government had previously blamed the IMD for their inaccurate assessment during the floods that wreaked havoc in the state in 2018.
