A picture post is doing the rounds on the internet with a claim that the official Twitter handle of ‘Office of the Union Territory of Ladakh’ has been renamed as ‘Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh (U.T.), India’.

The caption of the post reads: “Twitter handle of Office of the Union Territory of Ladakh renamed as Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh (U.T.), India…Great move”

We checked the Twitter handle and found that it has been created in May 2020.

Government sources confirmed that the twitter handle claiming to be the official account of ‘Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh, UT, India’ is fake.

In fact, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in a tweet, explicitly clarified, that this information is untrue and the Union Territory of Ladakh has only 2 official Twitter handles, @DIPR_Leh and @InformationDep4.
