FACT CHECK

We fact-checked the viral post and found that it is fake.

When we ran a Google search with keywords like ‘Bhagwati Modi’, ‘Ahemdabad’ and ‘dead’, we came across multiple reports from different news organisations dated May 1, 2019.

According to these reports, PM Modi’s sister-in-law, Bhagwatiben Modi, passed away on May 1, 2019, and not in 2020, as stated in the posts.

She was suffering from diabetes, hypertension and kidney ailments. After she suffered a heart attack on the morning of May 1, 2019, she was taken to Ahmedabad Civil hospital, where she was declared dead at the hospital.

Our investigation proves that Bhagwatiben Modi passed away a year before these posts started doing the rounds on the internet.
