Fact Check: Cadbury’s is NOT giving free chocolate baskets to people

Date:

A website link is being widely shared, along with a message, with claims that chocolate brand, Cadbury, is giving away 500 free baskets of their chocolates to everyone on its 196th anniversary.

The caption of the post read: “Cadbury is giving away 500 Free baskets of Cadbury Chocolate to EVERYONE on its 196th ANNIVERSARY*. Hurry Up! Get your free cadbury basket at :”

We also received the same post on WhatsApp, in which it was mentioned that they are giving away 1500 free baskets.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above message and found it to be a spam.

When we clicked on the link, we were directed to an unsecured website, Ogool.com, and asked to confirm if we were over the age of 16 to continue.

Even after clicking on ‘I Confirm’, the website did not work.

NewsMobile also contacted Cadbury company on their Twitter handle, wherein they confirmed that the giveaway claim is fake.

This proves that the viral link is spam and no such schemes have been announced by Cadbury.
