The Indian flag was beamed on the Matterhorn mountains of Switzerland as a mark of appreciation to the country which is fighting the deadly virus and to inspire hope to the billion people.

This was tweeted by the Embassy of India in Berne. It was, in turn, retweeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the message saying, “The world is fighting COVID-19 together. Humanity will surely overcome this pandemic.”
Every evening from sunset onwards, the 4,478 meters high mountain is illuminated by bright light with messages of hope, inspiring nations to fight the pandemic together.

According to the information available, the light is projected on to the mountain from a distance of 4 km away on the northern and eastern sides. It borders the nation of Italy.
The words ‘hope’, ‘solidarity’ and ‘stay home’ have been projected on to the mountain.
Gerry Hofstetter known for transforming buildings around the world with his displays said, “We started with the Swiss flag because it speaks to the mountain and our nation.”
Till date,flags of US, Germany, Spain, UK and Japan have also been projected on the mountain.
