COVID-19: British PM Boris Johnson in ICU; condition stable says Downing Street

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who was hospitalised on Sunday due to persistent display of COVID-19 symptoms has now been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, Downing Street has informed that his conditions are stable.

Johnson who tested positive on March 26 for the Coronavirus was admitted to the hospital on Sunday.

He has been admitted to the St Thomas Hospital across the River Thames and his conditions are being monitored.

However, Downing Street sources have refused to confirm that the PM is on a life ventilator system.

There is no formal succession plan. However, Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to officiate for him during his period of absence.

Raab chaired a meeting on Monday related to Britain’s preparedness in dealing with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Americans “are all praying for his recovery”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday tweeted wishing the British PM, a speedy recovery.
