Underlining that the 21-day lockdown in India was the “need of the hour”, NewsMobile’s Editor-in-Chief Saurabh Shukla today said that this decision was taken following an assessment made at the topmost levels in government.
“Lockdown was the need of the hour. This was the advice given by the topmost health experts of the country and the assessment that was made at the highest quarters,” Shukla said while participating in a televised debate on Republic TV.

NewsMobile’s Editor-in-Chief further said that people don’t realize that by not adhering to a lockdown situation, people not only endangering the lives their families but of the entire community around them.
“And those people who are against this lockdown—the lockdown lobby—are doing it with purpose. They are fomenting trouble. They are wanting to vitiate the atmosphere. They are working against our hard-working doctors, our police people, people in the government who are making sure that everything is taken care of. Because they don’t realize that if we don’t have this lockdown, there’ll be mayhem in the country,” Shukla added.
Saying it was the duty of all Indians to support the government during the time of crisis, Shukla said that there is a logic behind initiating the lockdown for 21 days throughout the nation, which has even been praised by international organizations like World Health Organization (WHO).
The total number of positive cases of Coronavirus in India rose to 724 on Friday, including 640 active cases, 66 recovered cases, one migrated and 17 dead, as per the latest figures by the Union Health Ministry.
