Chittor, Andhra Pradesh: The Tirupati Tirumala Devasthana (TTD) board on Monday announced a slew of measures to protect those who visit the holy city; including installing of thermal guns to screen devotees who enter the temple.

He also highlighted that the authorities will ensure that areas which witness large congregations will be properly sanitized. Items such as hand bars, sitting benches, areas where food is served and toilets will be cleaned every 2-3 hours.

The thermal scanners will be able to record the individual’s body temperature and this will then permit the authorities to decide whether to permit or not to permit the entry of the devotees.

The authorities have also designated quarantine facilities within the temple complex and have announced that suspected samples will be sent to the Sri Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati.

Close to 75,000 devotees visit the temple everyday and this number goes upto 1,00,000 during weekends and holidays.
