Fact Check: This picture of a cop hitting a minor with baton is NOT from Delhi violence

Amid the recent incidents of violence in the national capital over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a picture has surfaced on the internet in which a cop can be seen hitting a minor with a baton. Claims were being made that this picture from Delhi.

The caption of the picture in Hindi read: “बहुत बड़े आतंक को पीटते हुए दिल्ली पुलिस।”

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral picture and found that the claim attached to the picture is false.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we came across several reports which featured the same picture and according to reports, the picture is from Bangladesh.

On our further investigation, we found the same picture on the official website of Getty Images. According to the description, the viral picture was taken on June 30, 2010, during a clash with garment workers in Dhaka.

In conclusion, the above information confirms that the picture in question is NOT from recent Delhi violence.
